The 30 Day Work Visa Departure Plan for Pakistani Workers

Work visa might be granted before the worker is ready to depart. The passport might be near its expiration date, the terms in the employment agreement may vary, registration with a Protector may not be fully completed or no one may have arranged for the worker to meet after arriving.

This 30 day checklist for the Pakistani workers before departing is used to control the last month of their preparation. Starting with legal and document verification, then onto Protector registration, and employer coordination, and concluding with an organized airport file and a safe arrival plan. The countdown is NOT a guaranteed processing time. There are instances when workers get their visas fewer than 30 days before they can leave, and others who wait longer for their employer or recruiter to make travel arrangements. Begin as early as possible and finish all the relevant checks before take off.

Day 30: Freeze the process until the job still makes sense

Never buy an airline ticket without receiving a visa image from an official source.

Place the following documents together:

  • Job advertisement or selection notice
  • Job offer
  • Employment contract
  • Work visa or entry permit
  • Passport
  • Recruiter information
  • BE&OE permission details, where applicable
  • Employer contact details

Compare details of the worker’s name, passport, employer, occupation, country, salary and contract length. The documents should outline one uniform work agreement. A real visa is not proof of salary, living conditions, working hours, etc., of a recruiter’s promises.

If there is an Overseas Employment Promoter, check if the agency is licensed and linked up to the job order. BE&OE recommends applicants to avoid employing unlicensed agencies, unauthorized individuals or organizations to represent them, travel agencies/training centres offering job offers overseas without any license and job orders, and agencies without any license or job order to place applications. It also cautions employees to not take a tourist visa as an overseas employment visa.

Contact the employer through independently verified details and confirm:

  • Your selection
  • Exact job title
  • Duty location
  • Contract terms
  • Planned arrival date
  • Airport pickup arrangement
  • Initial accommodation
  • Person responsible for receiving you

Avoid quitting your job, selling of important items, or making an irrevocable travel commitment while there is still much to be resolved about important information.

Day 27: Check the passport before the visa controls your options

Open the passport and inspect it carefully.

Confirm that:

  • The name matches the CNIC and employment documents.
  • The passport number matches the visa and contract.
  • The photograph is recognizable.
  • The passport is undamaged.
  • Sufficient validity remains for the destination’s requirements.
  • Blank pages are available where needed.

According to Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, one may renew his/her passport ahead of time. It also provides online Passport renewal facility for Inland and Overseas Pakistanis, who are eligible to renew their Passport online.

After the visa is granted, there is a possibility of a renewal that will generate a new question as the visa may mention the previous passport number. At this stage, before your visa is renewed, make sure you enquire with the immigration authority in the country you intend to travel to, your employer or a verified recruitment agency about how the visa you are issued will be connected to the new passport.DGI&P requires details of the father’s name (or date of birth in the case of a date of birth correction) or details of the correction to be made, in the relevant CNIC/NICOP, before a name change is made.

Do not make any changes to a passport, a print out of a visa or an identity document on your own.

Day 24: Read the contract as a travel document

The contract is more than just a job contract. It also aids you in giving a rationale behind your travels and what you anticipate once you arrive.

Mark these details:

  • Employer’s legal name
  • Sponsor’s name, if different
  • Job title
  • Workplace or city
  • Basic salary
  • Allowances
  • Accommodation
  • Food
  • Transportation
  • Medical coverage
  • Duty hours
  • Overtime conditions
  • Contract length
  • Probation
  • Leave
  • Deductions
  • Return-ticket responsibility
  • Termination provisions

When there are differences between the offer and the contract, request a written description.Avoid relying on an oral assurance from the employer that the wage or job will be adjusted upon his or her arrival. It is best to fix a contract before accepting and travelling.Make a one page job summary for yourself. This is not a substitute for the contract, but an equivalent contract. It is a reference that includes job title, salary, location, contact person and address of accommodation of the employer.

Day 21: Start the correct Protector-registration route

BE&OE recognizes two main routes for emigrant protection:

  1. Direct employment
  2. Employment through an Overseas Employment Promoter

The documents that must be taken are not the same.

Some of the documents required for direct employment are: online registration request, visa, valid passport, CNIC, signed employment contract/approved undertaking, receipts, insurance certificate, medical document, police document and any applicable NOC documents. The following documents are required for employment through an OEP: Job permission number, Passport, CNIC, Insurance certificate, Fee related documents and Foreign Service Agreement. The BE&OE should be reviewed prior to submission of the live requirements as document lists, certificate requirements and administrative procedure may change.Using BE&OE’s official office finder, locate the Protectorate of Emigrants office affiliated to the district that your CNIC current address is in.

Don’t take it for granted that someone else’s documents and receipt list for fees will be suitable for your situation.

Day 18: Complete protection, insurance and orientation steps

As part of the protection process, BE&OE checks submitted documents, registers the worker’s record and gives him/her an orientation or a briefing including information on health, legal rights, etc.

Keep copies of:

  • Registration request
  • Payment receipts
  • Insurance certificate
  • Foreign Service Agreement
  • Protector evidence
  • Orientation or soft-skills certificate, where applicable
  • Any NOC, medical or police certificate used in the process

Refer to the current official fee structure; do not take the amount of money that is listed in an old article or forwarded email. Never pay an unofficial intermediary to “speed up” process.Employees chosen via OEC can also be given a pre-departure orientation to the terms of the contract, legal rights, cultural awareness, health and safety, immigration compliance and support channels that are available. The only reason for an orientation is not just to receive a certificate. Use it to solve issues with the employer, destination, insurance and reporting lines.

Day 15: Confirm the visa status through the issuing country

Verify visa/entry permit on the official immigration website of the country.

Do not use only:

  • A screenshot supplied by the recruiter
  • A third-party visa-checking website
  • A WhatsApp message saying “visa active”
  • A travel agent’s verbal confirmation

Record the official status and, where displayed, compare:

  • Applicant’s name
  • Passport number
  • Visa number
  • Visa category
  • Sponsor
  • Occupation
  • Issue date
  • Entry deadline
  • Validity

Visa validity, the final entry date and the employment-contract start date are different concepts. Double check each one individually.Having a valid visa does not ensure crossing the border or entry to the country or continued stay for the person in that country. The competent immigration authorities and the traveler’s circumstances might determine the final decisions.

Day 12: Do not buy the ticket until five facts are confirmed

Before paying for a flight, obtain written confirmation of:

  1. The date on which the employer expects you
  2. The airport and terminal
  3. The person arranging the ticket
  4. The baggage allowance
  5. The person meeting you after arrival

Check the booking with the airline’s official website or customer-service. Please note the passenger name, route, dates, baggage allowances and booking status. Please use caution with individual connecting tickets. May need to collect baggage, go through immigration or transfer to a terminal at the airport, depending on the schedule and airport visited. Don’t use a general article on travel with an airline, ask them for the specific advice required for the booking.

Don’t purchase a ticket that cannot be refunded until registration for the Protector is complete or visa information/employer confirmation are received.

Day 10: Build three document sets

Never put all the important papers in an only suitcase.

Set one: hand luggage originals

Carry the documents you may need during check-in, immigration and arrival:

  • Passport
  • Work visa or entry permit
  • Employment contract
  • Protector evidence
  • Airline ticket or itinerary
  • Employer’s contact details
  • Accommodation address
  • Required medical or professional documents
  • Prescription for essential medicines
  • Emergency contact sheet

Set two: photocopies

Do not carry originals, make copies. Attach the passport ID page, visa, contract, Protector record and insurance information.

Set three: secure digital backup

Keep a password protected back up on a secure cloud storage or encrypted device. Provide trusted family member with copies of important documents.

Avoid posting passport, CNIC or visa pictures in any public social media groups.

Day 7: Create an arrival confirmation, not just a pickup promise

Ask the employer or verified recruiter to send:

  • Receiver’s full name
  • Employer identification or staff details where appropriate
  • Mobile number
  • Vehicle information where available
  • Meeting point inside or outside the terminal
  • Accommodation address
  • Backup contact
  • Procedure if the flight is delayed

Verify these details again, via an employer’s independently verified channel of contact.Don’t get on board if the driver says your name on a piece of paper or the phone. Check over with driver to confirm the employer and pick up details before you leave the airport.Have an alternative transportation plan with an official airport taxi or public transport desk (or approved transport as applicable). Have enough readily available funds to travel safely locally, food and communication emergency without having an excess of cash.

Day 5: Learn enough about the job to answer honestly

Look at the employment summary that you developed earlier.

You should be able to explain:

  • Where you are going
  • Why you are travelling
  • Who employed you
  • What work you will perform
  • Your salary and major benefits
  • Where you will stay initially
  • Who will receive you
  • How you obtained the job
  • Whether a licensed OEP was involved

Never memorize a script that an agent has given you.FIA’s Immigration Wing is responsible for controlling foreign passengers’ entry and exit into and from Pakistan at the notified entry and exit points and implements the immigration measures such as travel restrictions, border-management procedures etc.Of course, honesty is better with documents that hold up with it than with prepared statements that don’t.

There is no guarantee that a checklist will give them clearance at the airport.

Day 3: Pack according to the destination, airline and job

Divide packing into four groups.

Work essentials

Bring clothing or equipment only when employer has advised what to wear for the job. Avoid buying tools that are too costly because they are to be provided by the employer.

Health essentials

Bring any required medications with a prescription, in original container. Before packing restricted and/or prescription medications, refer to the official restricted-medicine guidance of the destination country.

Personal essentials

Bring appropriate clothing, basic toiletry items, glasses, chargers and a limited amount of normal food items as appropriate under customs regulations.

Prohibited and restricted items

Check:

  • Destination country customs rules
  • Airline dangerous-goods restrictions
  • Cabin baggage limits
  • Checked baggage limits
  • Medicine rules
  • Food restrictions
  • Battery and power bank rules

Please don’t assume an article which will be legal in Pakistan is legal in another country. Weigh the bags at home; allow for adjusting.

Day 2: Prepare your family’s control file

A trusted family member should hold copies of:

  • Passport and visa
  • Contract
  • Protector record
  • Insurance information
  • Ticket
  • Employer details
  • Recruiter details
  • Accommodation address
  • Flight numbers
  • Destination-country emergency numbers
  • Pakistan mission details

The information of Pakistan’s missions abroad and contacts for assistance is published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan. Names and telephone numbers can change, check the official page of the embassy or consulate’s page as soon as you can before you leave.

Agree on a communication schedule:

  • Message after airport check-in
  • Message after immigration
  • Message after landing
  • Message after meeting the employer
  • Message after reaching accommodation

Set up a secret family verification password for family to verify your identity if approached by an unknown number upon arrival.

Day 1: Run the stop-or-travel test

Never only ask if one’s bag is packed, Is my bag packed?

Discuss with them if there is any unresolved matter, is it serious enough to put off travelling?

Travel only after confirming

  • Passport information is correct.
  • The visa is valid and employment-related.
  • The contract matches the accepted offer.
  • Protector registration is complete where required.
  • The ticket is confirmed directly with the airline.
  • The employer expects you on the selected date.
  • Pickup and accommodation are confirmed.
  • Essential documents are in hand luggage.
  • Emergency contacts are accessible offline.
  • No one has instructed you to provide false information.

Stop and investigate when

  • The employer is no longer responding.
  • The sponsor or occupation has changed without explanation.
  • You are being sent on a tourist visa for employment.
  • The contract will supposedly be issued after arrival.
  • The recruiter wants an undocumented final payment.
  • The airline booking cannot be confirmed.
  • The pickup person cannot be verified.
  • You are told to hide your employment purpose.
  • Passport, visa and contract details conflict.

A delayed journey can be inconvenient. Travelling into an unverified employment arrangement can be far more costly.

Departure day: Use the airport file in sequence

Arrive according to the airline’s official check-in guidance for your flight.

Keep the following immediately accessible:

  1. Passport
  2. Ticket
  3. Visa
  4. Contract
  5. Protector evidence
  6. Employer and accommodation details

Take care to answer questions in a cool, straightforward manner. Don’t give documents not actually issued to you.Once a passport and original contract has been obtained, place them with you. Don’t leave them to be placed in an unsupervised bag.Make sure to get connected to a secure communication system upon landing and let family know. Do not meet with the representative unless he or she has been verified. If employer’s representative is not present, stay in a safe, public place and phone the employer, recruiter and back up transport.

The purpose of a Pakistani workers departure list is to make the biggest folder. It is to make sure that each and every crucial document, person and promise can be understood on its own prior to embarking on the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy the ticket immediately after receiving a work visa?

Not automatically. First confirm the official visa status, contract, Protector requirements, employer’s expected arrival date and pickup arrangements. Then verify the booking through the airline.

Is Protector registration required for direct employment?

BE&OE provides a direct-employment registration route as well as an OEP route. Directly hired workers should check and complete the applicable emigrant-protection requirements before travel.

What happens during Protector registration?

BE&OE describes document verification, emigrant registration, passport endorsement and orientation covering health and legal rights as parts of the process.

Can I renew my passport before it expires?

Yes. DGI&P states that a passport may be renewed before expiry. When a visa has already been issued, confirm how the issuing country will connect it with the replacement passport.

Should I carry my original educational certificates?

Carry originals only when the verified employer, recruiter or destination procedure requires them. Keep them in hand luggage and create secure copies. Do not surrender original certificates without understanding why they are needed.

What should I do if the employer stops responding before departure?

Pause the journey and contact the employer through independently verified channels. Ask the licensed OEP or OEC for clarification where relevant. Do not travel without confirmed arrival, pickup and accommodation plans.

Does completing this checklist guarantee airport clearance?

No. It improves preparation but cannot guarantee airline boarding, departure approval or entry into another country. Decisions remain subject to the relevant authorities and the traveller’s circumstances.

Responsible Disclaimer

This is a guide that has been reviewed using official information on 22 July 2026. There are a number of other requirements that may have to change or differ from worker to worker, country to country, job to job and recruitment activity to recruitment activity, such as Passport, Visa, Employment, Protector, Airline and Immigration requirements. Check with BE&OE, DGI&P, the airline and the authority in the country you are traveling to before departing to see if they have the same requirements.

Final Factual Verification Notes

  • The 30-day structure is an editorial planning framework, not an official government processing schedule.
  • Recheck BE&OE’s live Protector document list and fee structure before publication.
  • Confirm passport-validity and visa-linkage questions with the destination authority.
  • Airline baggage and transit requirements must be checked for the specific booking.
  • Do not reproduce outdated embassy contact information; link readers to the current mission page.
  • Replace the author placeholder with a real name and truthful credentials.
  • Update the article whenever Protector, passport or airport procedures materially change.
